Truth-in-advertising:
-
We are a beautiful, older apartment complex, built in the 1960s and lovingly maintained.
-
Our units may not be as large as other apartments, but we have generous deck and patio spaces that allow you extended living space into the outdoors.
-
We don’t have some of the newer amenities you can find elsewhere (A/C, dishwashers, EV, laundry machines in apartments, etc).
-
Even though there is no installed A/C, we have many shade trees to help with heat. Evenings are nearly always cool here, year-round. Downstairs units stay much cooler, naturally. A fan is all you'll likely need. However, if you are on the 2nd floor and it’s hot outside, you will feel the heat. Some tenants have purchased portable A/C which work beautifully, and are much quieter than traditional A/C.
-
We have simple galley kitchens. A few are upgraded, but most are old-style. Fixtures and fridges are updated. Countertops are linoleum.
-
No pets allowed except up to two cats (with insurance to cover damage).
-
No smoking of any substance anywhere on the property.
-
We do have children here and a lovely pool. This means noise during the summer pool season. If you live near the pool or on the main courtyard, you will hear them. There are some quiet periods, too, for lap swimming. If you don’t love the sounds of happy children at pools, let us know, and we'll let you know which apartments hear no pool noise. We have a bunch!
-
Our 1 bedrooms and studios are in Buildings 2 and 5, which run parallel to the Caltrain line. Happily, trains are all-electric now, and we think the noise impact is fairly minimal. Windows on both sides are sound-proofed and double-paned.
-
We are also near Central/Alma. The traffic is a fairly quiet background swoosh, and not heard on the living room side.
-
The whole neighborhood, including Caltrain and Central, becomes virtually silent at night. It’s a surprisingly good place to sleep soundly.
-
Because our buildings are older, noise can bleed through between apartment walls. Most of our residents are quiet and considerate, and usually, noise issues are quickly resolved among neighbors and by management. That's unusual in other apartments. But expect to hear noise between apartments sometimes. We do our best to resolve issues, but it may not be possible to have a completely quiet apartment experience.

Our outdoor and communal spaces are shared with Ananda Church, which holds the Master Lease to this Apartment complex and property. (This is why many folks here are meditators; they are active with Ananda). Ananda periodically hosts events and group gatherings in the courtyard, such as a July 4th picnic and games, chanting, graduation events for Ananda schools, banquets, or weddings. These events are usually open to everyone. There are occasionally other Ananda Church activities taking place in the community courtyard such as music, play rehearsals, or athletics. These activities can sometimes be a little noisy. But they are quite infrequent. Again, if you are concerned about noise, there are many units that are not on the main courtyard. Just inquire.
